The formats and procedures of the following
events apply from June 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011 and will be in
effect until further advised.

| 1. Match-Point Pairs (Chan Yiu
Cup) |
| Number of sessions: |
9 sessions. If the number of entries of any one session is less than 6 Pairs, that particular session of match will be cancelled. |

Scrambled Mitchell or Howell movement
shall be adopted to produce 1 winner per session. |
| Partnership: |
Fixed partnership is required for year-round
overall ranking. |

The year-round overall winner is the
pair accumulating the most ranking points, counting the best

| Tie Breaking: |
Regarding matches of a session, the pairs who tied in the position will share the respective ranking points.
In case having a tie in the ranking points, the result of the 8th session will be used as a comparison. If unable to break the tie, the result of the 9th session will be used. If a tie remains, the percentage (rounded up to 2 decimal points of each match) obtained by the Pairs will be used in place of the ranking points for determining the winner. The Pair with the higher aggregate percentage for all (9) sessions, is deemed to be the winner (The percentage for the session not participated is counted as zero). |

| 2. IMP Pairs (S. C. A. A. Cup) |
| Number of sessions: |
A total of (9) sessions will be held. If the number of entries of any one session is less than (6) Pairs, that particular session of match will be cancelled. |
| Scoring: |
Total IMP scoring (with Maximum 17 IMPs
per spread). |
| Movement: |
The straight Mitchell movement is adopted to produce (2) winners per session. However, if the number of tables is (4) or less, a Howell movement would be adopted to produce (1) winner per session. |
| Partnership: |
Fixed partnership is required
for year-round overall ranking. |
| Ranking point: |
10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. |
| Winner: |

| 3. Invitational Team (Victor Zirinsky Cup) |
| Status: |
By invitational only |
| Qualification of Contestants: |
-Only HKCBA members are eligible to participate in this event;
-For the avoidance of doubt, Registered Players are NOT HKCBA members;
-The Invitation List be adopted by HKCBA Council.

| Number of sessions: |
The number of sessions depends on the number of entries; all sessions will be held normally on Friday evening. |
| Scoring: |
IMPs converted to Victory Points [VP]. |
| Contestants: |
Each team is allowed to register a maximum of (8) bona-fide players . |
| Tournament Format: |
In the form of single round robin for the bridge calendar year (2010-11).
A match will consist of (32) boards. The IMP difference scored will be converted to Victory Points [VP] in accordance with the WBF VP scale for (32) boards. Each team will play against one opponent on the same day. The teams will be ranked in accordance with the aggregate [VP] scored during the round robin.

| Promotion and Relegation: |
The top (6) teams are eligible to retain their seat in Ladder A in the next bridge calendar year. The rest will be relegated to Ladder B. However, the actual number of teams relegated to Ladder B will be subject to the number of new entries in the next calendar year and the decision of the Tournament Operation Committee [TOC]. |
| Walk-over: |
If a team is unable to turn up for a match within the appropriate time, it shall be regarded as a walkover. The offending team shall obtain 0 VP, and might receive further penalties at the Council¡¦s discretion. For the non-offending team, they will receive appropriate VPs in accordance with the provisions on the Conditions of Contest but they will receive no Black Points for that match.
Re-match and Pre-match is NOT allowed.

| System Restrictions: |
Neither HUM systems nor Brown Sticker Conventions are allowed for this event.
|
| Tie Breaking: |
The IMP Quotient will be used for tie-breaking, failing that, the result of the direct match in the form of IMPs between the team will be used. Further details of the rules regarding the tie-breaking can be referred to the PABF Conditions of Contest of 2009..
|
| Master Point Policy: |
A player must have played in at least 25% of the total number of boards in this tournament so as to qualify for the award of Gold Points and the trophy.
Black Points
- (4) Black Points for the winning team of each match; and
- (2) Black Points for the teams in the case of a tie (same VP ); and
- No Black Points for the losing team
Gold Points
-(6) Gold Points for the champion of this event;
-(3) Gold Points for the First Runner-up of this event;
-(2) Gold Points for the Second Runner-up of this event.

| 4. Open League (Ambassador Cup) |
| Number of sessions: |
This event is by Invitation. Depending on the number of entries, all sessions will be held normally on
weekends; 2-3 matches per match-day. |
| Tournament format: |
Round Robin
Stage (1):
With (30) teams or more, the teams will be divided into (2) sections: Section I and Section II, basically
based on the results and track record of the previous Open League. For those new entries, the teams will be
assigned according to the assessment of Tournament Operation Committee [TOC].
For the purpose of illustration, assume (32) teams enter the contest.
A single round robin of 15 matches will be held during Stage (1), 3-matches of 14-boards for each matchday.
The teams in each session will be ranked from (1)-(15) in accordance with the aggregate VP scored
during the round robin.
Stage (2):
The teams ranking (1)-(5) / (6)-(10) / (11)-(16) in each session at Stage (1) will be classified into Class
A/B/C respectively. Thus, there will be (10) teams in Class A, (10) teams in Class B and (12) teams in Class
C. Another single round robin will be held within each class; 3-matches of 14-boards for each match-day.
Teams in Class A and B will play (9) matches while teams in Class C will engage in (11) matches.
Carryover in accordance with WBF formula will be applied at the play-off stage. If the teams have met each
other during either Stage (1) or Stage (2), the carry-over will be calculated based on the result of that match.
If the teams have met each other in both Stage (1) and (2), the results of both matches in terms of the
aggregate IMP gained / lost will be used as a base for calculating the carry-over.

| Scoring: |
Round Robin Stage: IMP converted to Victory Points [VP] in accordance with WBF VP scale.
Play-off stage: IMP scoring.

| Playoffs: |
Stage (3): Play-off
Quarter-Final: A total of (8) teams will enter the quarter-final.
Class A: The teams ranking (1)-(4) in Class A will be automatically qualified to enter the Quarter-Final and are assigned Seed (1)-Seed (4) in accordance with their respective rankings in the 2nd round robin.
Class B: The top (2) teams will be automatically qualified to enter the Quarter-Final and are assigned Seed-(5)-Seed-(6) in accordance with their rankings in the 2nd round robin.
Class C: The top ranking team will be automatically qualified to enter the Quarter-Final and is assigned Seed (8).
In addition, the team ranking 5th in Class A will enter a 32-board play-off against the team ranking 3rd in Class B. The winner of this match will be assigned Seed-(7). Rules of Play-off stage applies to this match.
The (8) quart-finalists will enter a 32-board quarter-final, with carry-over.
Procedure of selecting the Opponent
The winners assigned Seed (1)-Seed (4) are entitled to select its opponent from those seeding (5)-(8). The team Seed (1) is entitled to pick its Opponents from Seed (5)-Seed (8) [QT-M1]. Afterwards, the team Seed (2) selects its opponent from the remaining teams seeding (5)-(8) [QT-M2]. Likewise, the team Seed (3) picks its opponent from the remaining teams seeding (5)-(8) [QT-M3]. The team Seed (4) and the remaining team seeding (5)-(8) will meet each other (QT-M4).
Semi-Finals
The winners in the quarter-final will enter a 48-board semi-final, with carry-over. The arrangement of semi-finals being that the winner of (QT-M1) will play against (QT-M4) in the match [SF-1] while the winner of (QT-M2) will play against (QT-M3) in the match [SF-2].
Final
The winners of [SF-1] and [SF-2] enter the Final. The winners of the semi-finals will enter a 64-board Final, with carry-over.
The team gaining the net positive imps [i.e. plus imps less minus imps] in the Play-offs is the winner of that match.

| Tie Breaking: |
Round Robin Stage
The IMP Quotient will be used for breaking the tie, failing that, the result of the direct match(s) (IMPs) between the team(s) will count. Details of the rules regarding the tie-breaking can be referred to the PABF Conditions of Contest of 2009.
Play-off Stage
Sudden death of boards 2+1+(1¡K ) will be applied for breaking the tie.

| Enrolment: |
Pre-registration is required before the start of the first session. Enrolment is by team basis with a team name. Basically, there is no restriction on the team name, but it is still subject to the approval of the Council. |
| Players: |
Number of players in a team is NOT limited, provided they have not played for other teams.
Non HKCBA members are welcome to participate in this event. Tournament fee (a Flat Rate of HK$120 per team per match i.e. HK$360 per match-day) will be applied to both HKCBA members and non-members.
Every team has to pay a deposit HK$360 on the first match-day and it will be returned on the last match-day of the Round Robin.

| Trophy qualification: |

| Gold Point and Black Point Policy: |
Black Points: During the round robin stage, Black Points will be awarded for each match as follows: -
(2) Black Points be awarded to each member on the winning team;
(1) Black Point will be awarded to each member on both teams in the case of a tie (in terms of VP);
(0) No Black Point will be awarded to the members on the losing team.
Gold Points: (6) Gold Points will be awarded to the Champion, (3) to the 1st Runner-up and (2) to the 2nd and 3rd Runner-up respectively. Gold Points will only be awarded to at most (8) HKCBA members or Registered Players on each team; who have played for at least 25% of the total number of boards throughout the play-off stages. The Team Captain is responsible for submitting those (8) names and his/her decision is final and conclusive.
Placement Points: No Placement Point will be awarded to the event winner and runners-up.

| 5. 2010 PABF Open Team Trials |
| Objectives: |
1. To develop a format where we can
select the strongest possible team to represent Hong Kong.
2. To formally document the adopted format as the selection
process of this sport federation.
3. To ensure that the selected team is totally responsible
to the HKCBA. |
| Tournament format: |

The winner of the PABF Open Team Trial will be the representative
for China Hong Kong. |
| Number of players: |
Exactly 6 players for each team. |
| Enrolment: |
Pre-registration is required before
the start of the first session. |
| Remarks: |
Commitment, Responsibilities and
Rights
- Each member of the teams entering the play-off must
sign a commitment note prior to the start of the
play-off. If at any time any player on the winning team
fail to represent China Hong Kong out of his own
reasons, that pair will be disqualified and the position
taken up by a pair appointed by the Council. The player
will be barred from representing China Hong Kong for 2
years.
- If a player fails to complete the championship
because of discipline or out of his own reasons, the
player will be barred from representing China Hong Kong
for at least 2 years.
- A non-playing captain (NPC) will be appointed by the
Council, sponsored by and representing the interest of
the HKCBA. The winning team may suggest the NPC. The NPC
will be responsible to the Council and assume full
responsibility of the team, including discipline,
training, partnership and line-up.
- The representative team must agree to accept a
nominal sum, of say HK$6,000, from the HKCBA as the
subsidy for representing China Hong Kong. The HKCBA will
try to solicit sponsors for the team, including possible
incentive programs from the government.
- The NPC will work out the training schedule in
consultation with the team. The members are expected to
participate fully, under the supervision of the NPC.

| 6. AGM Pairs |

| 7. T.S. Lo Cup |
| Scoring: |
This is not a tournament by itself.
This trophy is awarded to the player got the most master
points in the team events during the year from all HKCBA
organized local events (excluding all independent trials and
inter-city events).
The total master points for this trophy are calculated by
accumulating the total Gold Points and Black Points (with a
conversion of 1 Gold Point = 5 Black Points) from all HKCBA
events mentioned above. |

| Appendix I - WBF
Carry-over Formula (in the supplementary conditions of contest) |
There will be a carry over in all
matches of the knockout phase. The carry over will be half
or one-third of the IMP difference in the meeting of the
teams in the round robin. It will be half if the highest
ranked team in the round robin won the match against their
opponents and one-third if the highest ranked team in the
round lost the match to its knock out opponent.
The maximum carryover used in any event will be:
- 8 for a 32 board match
- 12 for a 48 board match
- 16 for a 96 board match
- 20 for a 128 board match
In the case of the World Transnational Open Teams, if one or
more quarter-final matches do not have a carry over then no
carry over will be applied to any quarter-final matches.
Likewise, if one semi-final has a carry over, but the other
does not, then no carry over will be applied to either
match. |
