Qualification for Team Championship Trophy
In a championship team event without a final, a player must have played in at least 25% of the entire event to qualify for the trophy and also the Placement Points, Gold Points and Black Points.
In a championship team event with a final, a player must have played in at least 25% of the final to qualify for the trophy and also the Placement Points, Gold Points and Black Points.

1. Andre Quan Pairs (Andre Quan Memorial Cup)
Number of sessions: 2 sessions.
Scoring: Match Points.
Movement: Normally, either Scrambled Mitchell or Howell movement shall be adopted to produce (1) winner, depending on the number of entries. However, the TD may adopt a format different from the above; his decision at the spot is final.
Partnership: Fixed partnership is required for both sessions.
Winner: The pair that scores the highest aggregate match-points, or the highest percentage, whichever is appropriate.
Master Point Policy: In accordance with the New Master Point System, the Andre Quan Pairs belongs to Cup Event (2H) under Category (2): the Championship Events.

Black Points:
Black Points will be awarded to the upper half of the field in accordance with a predetermined formula. The 'Factor' applied to the formula in respect of this tournament is (3).

Gold Points:
(4) Gold Points be awarded to the Champion;
(2) Gold Points be awarded to the 1st Runner-up;
(1) Gold Points be awarded to the 2nd Runner-up.

Number of players: Maximum six (6) bona fide players for each team.
Tournament format: Direct matches, without final.
Scoring: Victory Points.

Winner: The team accumulating the most VPs.
Master Point Policy: In accordance with the New Master Point System, the Lorraine Sung Team belongs to Cup Event (2H) under Category (2): the Championship Events.

Black Points:
Black Points will be awarded to the upper half of the field in accordance with a predetermined formula. The ‘Factor?applied to the formula in respect of this tournament is (4).

Gold Points:

3. Hong Kong Open Pairs (Chinese Club Cup )
Title: Hong Kong Open Pairs, a Hong Kong National Event.
Enrollment Pre-registration is required.
Qualifying round: 2 sessions
With 11 tables or less: 1 section, No Final.
With 12-14 tables: 1 section, 12 Pairs qualified for the Final.
With 15-18 tables: 2 sections, 16 Pairs qualified for the Final.
With 19 tables or more, to be announced on the website.
Maximum capacity: 28 tables
Final: 2 sessions, without carry-over
Tournament format: Mitchell and Interwoven Howell movement will probably be adopted in the qualifying rounds, if feasible. However, the TD is empowered to decide the movement at the spot. Top 12/16 pairs will be qualified to the Final in accordance with the number of entries

Mitchell and Interwoven Howell movement (or Barometer*) may be adopted in the Final. Screens * may be used in the Final. (*): as to be determined by the Head of Tournament Operation Committee.
Scoring: Match Points.
Winner: The pair accumulating the most match-points in the Final.

4. Hong Kong Open Team (Lusitano Club Cup)
Title: Hong Kong Open Team. It is a premier team event.
Qualifying Rounds: 3 to 4 sessions, depends on number of entries.
With 16 teams or less, single round robin of direct matches.
With 17 teams or more, it will be split into 2 sections; single round robin of direct matches will be held within section.

With 7 teams or less, 14 boards per round.
With 8 - 12 teams, 9 boards per round.
With 13 - 16 teams, 8 boards per round.
With 17 teams or more, 9 boards per round.
The TD will have the final decision on the number of boards played per round.
Playoffs: With 7 teams or less, the top 2 teams will enter the Final: 64-boards.
With 8-16 teams, the top 4 teams will enter the semi-finals: 48-boards with carry-over* The winner of the qualifying round is entitled to select the opponent (SF-1). The remaining two teams will play against each other (SF-2). The winners in the semi-finals will enter the Final: 64-boards. The carry-over* still applies.

With 17 teams or more, teams will be divided into 2 sections. The top 4 teams in each section will qualify. The format will be as follows: -

(8) Teams qualified for the quarter-finals from 2 sections (4 Teams from each section)
Play-offs in Quarter-Final: 28-boards
Firstly, the team with the highest VP score** is entitled to pick his Opponent from the (4) teams that are ranking 3rd or 4th in either section. (QF-1)

Secondly, the team ranking first from another section picks the Opponent from the remaining (3) teams that are ranking 3rd or 4th in either section. (QF-2)

Thirdly, the team that ranks 2nd and with the higher VP score** (as compared to the 2nd of the other section) picks the Opponent from the remaining (2) teams that are ranking 3rd or 4th in either section. (QF-3)

Lastly, the remaining (2) teams played each other. (QF-4)

Play-offs in Semi-Final: 48-boards
In the semi-final, a draw will be conducted as the winners of QF-1 will play against either the winner of QF-3 or QF-4. The remaining two winners in the QF will meet each other [SF-2].

Play-off in Final: 64-boards
The winners of SF-1 and SF-2 will meet in the Final.

Carry-over*
The carry-over (WBF scale) will be applicable in all the stages of the play-offs as long as the teams come from the same section in the round robin.

(**) In the case both teams scoring the same VPs, IMP quotient is applied to break the tie. The team with the higher IMP quotient is accorded the priority to pick her Opponent.

Screens will probably be used in the play-offs, as determined by the Chairman of the Tournament Operation.
Players: Maximum 6 bona fide players for each team. Addition of players is allowed before the start of Play-off provided that there is vacancy and that the players have not played in any other team.
Enrolment: Pre-registration is required before the start of the first session.
Tie-breaking: In Qualifying Rounds, the IMP Quotient will be adopted for breaking the tie, failing which, the result of the direct match(s) between the team(s) will be counted. Further details for tie breaking procedures can be referred to PABF Conditions of Contest 2009.

In Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and Final, sudden death of 2+1+1 boards will be played.
Remarks: The winner of the PABF Open Team Trial will be the representative for China Hong Kong.

5. Quadruple Pairs (Y. T. Fong Memorial Cup)
Number of sessions: 3 sessions.
Number of players: 4 players for each team with at most 1 substitute player for a particular player.
Partnerships: The 4 players must partner each other once. The substitute player, if any, can only substitute one of the other players and the overall master points will be divided by these two players involved in the ratio of the number of matches.
Tournament format: Straight Mitchell movement.
Scoring: Match Points.
Winner: The team accumulating the most match-points.

6. Edward Chok Swiss Team (Edward Chok Memorial Cup)
Number of sessions: 2 sessions.
Number of players: Maximum six (6) bona fide players for each team.
Tournament format: Delayed Swiss except the last round, which is based on the result of the pre-ultimate round. The arrangement is that the teams will not encounter each other more than once except for the last round.

Trio will be adopted for the teams that occupy the last three (3) positions in case of odd number of entry.

Eight (8) Boards per round; the TD makes the final decision at the spot.
Scoring: Victory Points.
Enrolment: Pre-registration is required.
Winner: (1) The team that wins all the matches will be declared the winner. For the avoidance of doubt, ¡¥winning tie¡¦ in IMP with same victory points is considered a win.

(2) If no single team is able to win all the matches, the team that scores highest aggregate victory points (VP) will be the winner.
Tie-breaking: The underlying procedures are applied to tie-breaking of two teams, with priorities set as follows: -
(1) The IMP quotient.
(2) The result of the direct match (in terms of IMPs) between the two tied teams.

Number of sessions: 2 sessions.
Tournament format: Mitchell or Howell movement with one winner, depending on the number of entries.
Scoring: International Match Points (with Maximum 17 IMPs per spread).
Enrolment: Pre-registration is required.
Winner: The Pair with highest aggregate IMPs
Tie-breaking: In case of two or more Pairs obtaining same amount of aggregate IMPs, the tie-breaking will be in term of the IMP Quotient (whether the movement is complete or not).
The tie-breaking procedures will be carried out only when the result affects the ranking of the first three positions (i.e. the champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up).

9. Mixed Pairs (L A. Ozorio Cup)
Enrollment: Pre-registration is required
Tournament format: One (1) session. Scramble Mitchell or Howell movement with one winner, depending on the number of entries. The TD will make the decision at spot. In the case that the tournament is to be held at different venues, the format will be in the form of Simultaneous Pairs. The same duplicated boards will be played and the scores will be combined for producing one winner.
Scoring: Match Points.
Winner: The pair accumulating the most match-points.
Tie-Breaking: The normal tie-breaking procedure for Pairs event will be adopted in case two or more Pairs scoring same aggregate match points (or same percentage if the scoring is to be calculated in terms of percentage). 10. Team of Six (Association Cup)
Number of sessions: (3) or (4) sessions, depending on the number of entries
Tournament format: With 8 teams or less, a single round robin of direct matches with 12 boards per round, 24-board VP-scale will be used.

With 9 teams or more, a single round robin of direct matches with 9 boards per round, 18-board VP-scale will be used. (If there are 15 teams or more, an additional session may be held.)

The format stated above acts only a guideline. The TD may change the above format at spot, which is final and conclusive.
Scoring: Victory Points.
Winner: The team accumulating the most VPs.
Enrolment: Pre-registration is required before the start of the first session. Enrolment is by team basis with a team name. Basically, there is no restriction on the team name, but it is still subject to the approval of the Council
Number of players: Maximum (8) bona fide players for each team.
Tie-breaking: The IMP Quotient will be used for breaking the tie, failing that, the result of the direct match(s) (IMPs) between the team(s) will count. Further details refer to the PABF Conditions of Contest of 2009

11. Grand Slam Individual (CASH's Cup)
Number of sessions: 1 session.
Tournament format: Individual. By invitation, a total of 16 players will be invited.
Tournament Fee: Regular tournament fee is to be levied. The prevailing fee is HK$60 per session.

Winner: The player accumulating the most match points.
Tie Breaking: The normal tie-breaking procedure for Pairs event will be adopted in case two or more Individual contestants scoring same aggregate match points. Tie-breaking procedure is only carried out only when the result affects the ranking for the first three positions (i.e. the champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up).

13. Life Master Pair (SS Yeh Cup) and Non-Life Master Pair
Title: Life Master Pair and Non-Life Master Pair Life-Master Pair is a championship event and the winner of which is entitled to the trophy ¡§ SS Yeh Cup¡¨.
Tournament format: The tournament will be divided into two sections: the Life-Master section and Non-Master section. Both sections will be held concurrently with one winner in each section.

The contestants will be divided into two (2) different categories, Life Master and Non-Life Master, in accordance with their cumulative Master Points as at a specified date. The contestants are required to compete in the section to which they belong.

Dividing into two sections, this championship event consists of two (2) sessions in the form of Match-Point Pairs. Basically, either Scramble Mitchell or Howell movement, or likely a combination of both will be held. The TD is empowered to make the final decision at the spot.
Minimum Entries: In case the total entries in either section as reflected in the pre-registration is less than (8) Pairs, that section will be cancelled. If the entries of both sections are less than (8) Pairs (for each section), this championship event will be cancelled.
Scoring Method: Match Points.
Winner: The pair accumulating the most match-points in each section will be declared the winner.
Master-point Status: The master-point status of each individual contestant for the Life and Non-Life Master Pairs (2009-2010) is based on the cumulative Master points he/she earned as at (i.e. up to and including) 30th November 2009 as reflected by the record of Master Points List published on the HKCBA website.

For this championship event, the Master Point List will serve as a final and conclusive evidence of the Master-point status of each contestant solely for the purpose of categorizing the contestants into Master and Non-Life Master section. .
Enrollment: Pre-registration is required. Both contestants entered as a Pair must belong to the same category (either Life Master or Non-Life Master).

For the avoidance of doubt, it is explicitly stated that the entry to either section will be strictly prohibited if the two contestants entered as a Pair are in fact belong to different category. Having said that, the TD may upgrade a Pair in the Non-Life Master section (normally the Pair with the highest aggregated Master Points) to compete in the Life-Master section for the sake of facilitating the movement.

It is the responsibility of the contestants to ensure their Master Point status upon the registration and also to inform the TD in case of any alterations to their Master Points made after the registration.

The carry-over (WBF scale) will be applicable in all the stages of the play-offs.

Match Schedule: The matches will be scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays.
Players: Six (6) bona fide players are required to be registered for each team. In addition, each team needs to register a Non-Playing captain. The two teams qualified for the Final in each category have to submit the name of the Non-Playing Captain to the Council, latest three (3) days before the commencement of the Final.
Eligibility: The individual contestant should ensure their eligibility in representing Hong Kong for entering PABF championships before registering for the Trial. The team captain is also held responsible for ensuring the eligibility of all the team members. If the eligibility of the individual member is found to be in dispute after the trial, the HKCBA Council reserves all the rights to deal with such case at its discretion and may forfeit the right of the team for representing Hong Kong. Such decision is final and conclusive.

15. Hong Kong Senior Bowl (Vincent Li Senior Bowl)
Number of sessions: 2 sessions.
Number of players: (4)-(6) bona fide players for each team (refer to eligibility for the age limit)
Tournament format: Direct Match or Multiple Team as determined by the TD on site; without final.
Scoring: Victory Points.
Eligibility: As a general rule, the age limit of the contestant is age 55 or above in order to be qualified for this event.
Specification: The age qualification for the Hong Kong Senior Bowl (2009-2010) is that the date of birth of the contestant is to be on or before 20th February 1955.
Enrolment: Pre-registration is required.
Winner: The team accumulating most VPs.
Tie-breaking: The underlying procedures are applied to tie-breaking of two teams, with priorities set as follows: -
(1) IMP quotient.
(2) The result of the direct match (in terms of IMPs) between the two tied teams.
(3) Seniority*: The aggregate age of the 4 senior players on the team (In terms of years, if equal, in terms of month, then in terms of days)

In the case of tie-breaking for (3) or more teams: -

Appendix I - WBF Carry-over Formula (in the supplementary conditions of contest)
There will be a carry over in all matches of the knockout phase. The carry over will be half or one-third of the IMP difference in the meeting of the teams in the round robin. It will be half if the highest ranked team in the round robin won the match against their opponents and one-third if the highest ranked team in the round lost the match to its knock out opponent.

The maximum carryover used in any event will be:
- 8 for a 32 board match

In the case of the World Transnational Open Teams, if one or more quarter-final matches do not have a carry over then no carry over will be applied to any quarter-final matches. Likewise, if one semi-final has a carry over, but the other does not, then no carry over will be applied to either match.

Appendix I - WBF Carry-over Formula (in the supplementary conditions of contest)
There will be a carry over in all matches of the knockout phase. The carry over will be half or one-third of the IMP difference in the meeting of the teams in the round robin. It will be half if the highest ranked team in the round robin won the match against their opponents and one-third if the highest ranked team in the round lost the match to its knock out opponent.

The maximum carryover used in any event will be:
- 8 for a 32 board match
- 12 for a 48 board match
- 16 for a 96 board match
- 20 for a 128 board match
