CMSG Trials updates.
 
A) Pairs events for Men, Women, Youth (Men) and Youth (Women)
1. There will be no selection trials for the captioned Pairs events.
2. Two players (excluding the NPC)  from the winning team of the corresponding series may be nominated by the NPC or PC to join the Pairs event in addition to the team game. [For Youth, 2 pairs quotas for each of Youth(Men) and Youth(Women) are available for nomination]
3. If the winning team forfeits the nomination rights, NPC/PC of the 1st runner-up team may nominate two players (excluding NPC) from their team.
4. If there is unused quota, HKCBA selection committee will open the Pairs event for nomination.  Trial Points will be used as the sole selection factor. If there is a tie, it will be determined by draw.
 
B) Selection Trial for Youth
     1. A Youth Team registration must consist of players of the same gender.
     2. Youth Team players must be born on or after 1st Jan, 1998
 
C) Selection Trial for Team events
- Each team should consist 6 players and must have either a PC or NPC.
- If teams registered with 4-5 players, the registration will not be valid unless approval is sought from Council.  
Please submit your application to waive the number of players request to hkcbaadm@hkcba.org with strong justification once registration with less than 6 players made.

To further enhance the election process of the head coach, the deadline of the application is extended to 30 June 2023, with more information provided below:
 
Job title:
Head coach, maximum number of head count: 1
Youth team coach, maximum number of head count: 3
 
Proposed duties:
1. developing the skills and abilities of individual athletes or the team as a whole
2. analyze opponents, develop game plans, and strategize tactics to maximize the team's chances of success
3. oversee training programs and design appropriate training regimes
4. inspire and motivate athletes, fostering a positive and competitive team environment
5. provide encouragement, set goals, and instill discipline, helping players stay focused and committed to achieving their full potential
6. assess individual player performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement;
7. handle team dynamics, fostering teamwork, and resolving conflicts when they arise
 
Remuneration will be negotiated in the format of hourly rate.
 
For any candidate who has submitted an application before, you are welcome to reserve, amend or cancel your application in accordance to the new announcements before the deadline.

The event was held in 2 nights. With 13 pairs playing, each pair played against all other pairs with 4 boards.

Abby Chiu and Alan Sze was leading in the 1st night while the other pairs cannot pull them down in the 2nd night. A well deserved win. Congratulations!

The 2023 Open Mixed Pairs Championship will be staged jointly again by Hong Kong Contract Bridge Association (HKCBA [http://www.hkcba.org)]www.hkcba.org) and Ladies' Recreation Club (LRC http://www.lrc.com.hk/bridge_lrc.aspx).
 
Last year we had a field of 36 pairs with Janice Cheng and Leo Cheung as Champions.
 
 
Date and Time:
29 May 2023 (Monday)
Starting time: 19:00 hours (estimated finishing time: 22:45 hours)
Players are advised to arrive before 18:45 to facilitate the smooth organization of the game.

Format:
Pairs will participate in a one-session, one-winner competition. Match Point scoring will be adopted and the pair accumulating the highest Match Points will be the winner. 
 
Entries must be in pairs made up with one lady and one gentleman.
 
Tournament Fee:
HKD 145 per person (non-member of either HKCBA or LRC)
HKD 80 per person (member of HKCBA or LRC)
 
Trophy:
The winning pair is entitled to the LA Ozorio Cup which they can keep for one year.

Pre-registration is required to facilitate the arrangement.
