| Open League (2009-2010) |
The Open League (2009-2010) is by invitation. We are glad to announce that we are able to retain the magic number of entries: (28) teams, which is the optimal number for match schedule. It is also the maximum number of teams that we can accomodate in view of the limited capacity in venue and human resources. A total of (22) teams that have participated in the Open League (2008-2009) continue to support this event and (6) new teams join our big party this year.
The rationale behind the Open League is to organize a series of matches that enable the bridge players from all over Hong Kong to meet together once a month. We expect that all the contestants do enjoy an afternoon by playing bridge under a friendly atmosphere while meeting new and old friends at the same time.

| Registered Players |
In the forthcoming new bridge calendar year (June 2009-May 2010), the Hong Kong Contract Bridge Association Limited (HKCBA) is going to offer a special promotion to the new comers. If a bridge player intends to give a try to the tournament organized by HKCBA for a period of time without committing himself/herself to be a member, he has a new option by enrolling as a Registered Player. The main benefit that a Registered Player enjoys is that he/she is entitled to the same tournament fee scale as an ordinary member (currently $60 per session) by paying a nominal administration fee of HK$100 only, while the current annual membership fee is HK$400. The differences of a Registered Player and an ordinary member of HKCBA include but are not limited to the following: - 1. A Registered Player is NOT a HKCBA member. He/she has no voting right and also some other rights that a HKCBA member entitles; as either decided by the HKCBA Council from time to time or stipulated in the Memorandum and Articles of Association of HKCBA. 2. A Registered Player is NOT eligible to participate in any trial for selecting bridge players for representing Hong Kong, for instance, any World Championship event, PABF, Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macau triangular trial etc. If a Registered Player intends to participate in any trial, he/she must upgrade to full membership by paying a balance of HK$300 before registering for the trial. 3. A Registered Player is NOT eligible to receive any prize points if he/she wins any event organized by HKCBA. However, he/she is entitled to receive the Master Points as a HKCBA member does. Should you have any queries, please contact the coordinator, David CC Ng (mobile: 9317-9564), for details.
